Rental Terms and Conditions

This Agreement (“Agreement”), comprising the Rental Terms and Conditions and the Booking Form, is entered into between the undersigned (“Venue User”) and Jersey Cheshire Home (“We/Us”) for the use of the JCH Centre. By signing this Agreement, the Venue User agrees to the terms and conditions outlined herein.

Definitions and Interpretation:

We/Us: Jersey Cheshire Home, Eric Young House, Rope Walk, St. Helier, Jersey, JE2 4UU

JCH Centre/Venue: The JCH Centre, Block A Edinburgh House, Green Street, St. Helier, Jersey, JE2 4BQ

You/Your/Venue User(s): The person(s) or organisation making the booking, signing these terms and conditions, or attending the Venue during the Rental Period

Rental Period: The pre-agreed time period and date for which the Venue User has booked and paid to use the JCH Centre

In case of emergency during your rental period, call 999 immediately for ambulance, fire, or police services.

Rental Period

The Rental Period includes any time required for setup, clear down, and cleaning. Exceeding the agreed Rental Period without prior agreement may result in additional fees.

If significant changes to the room setup are required (e.g., removal of tables or chairs) and result in the need for early closure to accommodate setup, an additional fee of £15.00 may apply.

This fee will be confirmed in advance. 

Responsibility for Personal Belongings and Valuables
We are not responsible for any loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings during your use of the JCH Centre. Please take appropriate precautions to secure your possessions.

Behaviour and Conduct

You and your guests are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and lawful manner. Any behaviour deemed disruptive, disrespectful, or harmful to others may result in the immediate termination of your use of the JCH Centre.

We reserve the right to investigate any serious incidents or complaints, and to involve outside agencies (e.g., the police) if required.

Catering Services

If catering services are requested, you are responsible for coordinating directly with the JCH Centre Manager. No items from within the JCH Centre may be consumed unless paid for (e.g., drinks, snacks, etc.)

Wi-Fi

Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided for guest use. The network name is ‘JCH Cafe’ and access is secured with the password Just.Cafe.Happy.

Cleaning and Use of Equipment

You are responsible for leaving the JCH Centre in the condition in which it was found. All kitchen utensils and equipment used must be washed and dried, surfaces wiped clean, floors swept, and rubbish disposed of in the bins provided. Necessary cleaning equipment will be provided.

Kitchen equipment available for use is limited to the microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and countertop oven. No food or drink items belonging to the JCH Centre may be removed from the fridge during the Rental Period.

Use of the Merrychef oven or any portable cooking rings is strictly prohibited.

Failure to adhere to these requirements may result in additional cleaning fees.

Decorations

You are permitted to decorate the Venue, however any decorations used must not damage walls, furniture or fixtures.

Venue Capacity

The JCH Centre has a maximum capacity of 40 persons.

Locking Up

All doors and windows must be shut and locked when leaving the JCH Centre.

All lights should be switched off. Keys should be returned to the locked key-box outside the JCH Centre.

The JCH Centre Manager will confirm the code for the key-box to you by email prior to the commencement of the Rental Period.

Smoking and Vaping

Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited within the Venue.

Accidents and/or Damage

You are responsible for any damage to the premises or equipment, and for the conduct of attendees during your Rental Period.

Any injuries or damage must be reported to the JCH Centre Manager immediately. Please also let the JCH Centre Manager know if you use any items from the first aid box.

The cost of any necessary repairs will be charged to you.

We are not responsible for the health and wellbeing of You or any associated Venue Users.

Fire Procedures

In the event of a fire please evacuate the building and immediately contact the Fire Service by calling 999.

There are fire extinguishers located in the JCH Centre outside the toilet. Only use fire extinguishers if you are able to do so safely.

JCH Centre – Food Hygiene Terms & Conditions

These Food Hygiene Terms & Conditions apply to the use of the kitchen facilities in the JCH Centre or whenever food and/or drink is prepared or served at the JCH Centre by or on behalf of You.

  • You are responsible for the health and wellbeing of anyone you are catering for whilst at the JCH Centre during the Rental Period.
  • You have full hygiene responsibility for any food or drink prepared by you at the JCH Centre.
  • You are responsible for cleanliness of all utensils, cutlery, crockery etc prior to use. You are also responsible for washing, cleaning and drying all such items after use.
  • All open food must be stored so as to preclude the risk of contamination and for that purpose, once opened, all food items should be stored in suitable impervious containers with close fitting covers e.g. food quality food containers.
  • Please familiarise yourself with the Food Hygiene (General Provisions) (Jersey) Order 1967 (https://www.jerseylaw.je/laws/current/ro_4915).
  • There is a serious risk of cross contamination where the same equipment, utensils and work surfaces are used in preparation of both raw and cooked foods. In order to ensure that food spoilage micro-organisms are reduced to safe levels, please clean and disinfect all food preparation surfaces, equipment and utensils that have been used. All equipment and/or utensils should be immersed and washed with washing up liquid in hot water. The JCH Centre will provide disinfectant and washing up liquid.
  • We do permit dogs at the Venue however all animals must be kept out of the kitchen at all times.

JCH Centre is responsible for:

  • Cleaning the JCH Centre prior to commencement of the Rental Period.
  • Provision of a dustpan and brush, handwash, paper towels for hand drying, washing up liquid, disinfectant spray, tea towels, cutlery, utensils and crockery as seen.
  • Provision of waste bins.
  • The provision of a first aid box, located on the windowsill to the right of the door into the kitchen.

Booking Confirmation and Payment

  • The payment method selected on your Booking Form will apply to this Agreement.
  • Payment must be made in full no later than one week before the Rental Period begins, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Your booking will only be confirmed once full payment has been received and this signed Rental Terms and Conditions document has been returned.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations must be received at least one week before the scheduled booking date to qualify for a full refund.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

You must comply with all applicable local laws and regulations during your use of the JCH Centre, including noise regulations, health and safety standards, and other relevant statutes.

If applicable, you are responsible for obtaining an Occasional Entertainment Permit from the Bailiff’s Public Entertainment Panel in advance of the Rental Period.

Liability Waiver

We accept no liability for any loss, injury, accident, or damage that may occur during the use of the JCH Centre.

You and your guests participate at your own risk and should take necessary precautions to ensure safety. You are responsible for undertaking any risk assessments deemed necessary prior to commencement of the Rental Period.

You are encouraged to obtain appropriate insurance (e.g., public liability) for your event.

Governing Law

This Agreement shall be interpreted in accordance with and shall be governed by the laws of the Island of Jersey.
